Independent clinical trials show that MozzyOff actually works better than other repellents during the "distance attraction" stage. In other words, instead of allowing the insects to land on you, MozzyOff "hides" you from the insects in the first place.

In October 2002, 5 widely available and recognized products were chosen for comparative testing against MozzyOff.

The extent to which products reduced mosquito landing rate was determined by means of arm-in-cage techniques. This method required volunteers to insert their hands into an enclosure containing adult A. aegypti mosquitoes.

Of the plant-based repellents tested, MozzyOff provided the best protection, reducing mosquito landings by over 82%. MozzyOff Cocktail was the only botanically based product that came close to emulating the repellence performance of its synthetic counterparts. None of the products tested scored 100% efficacy.

During the testing only the two synthetic repellents and MozzyOff caused dramatic changes in mosquito behaviour. After exposure to the repellants there were large decreases in mosquito activity within the enclosures. Flight activity was considerably reduced with most mosquitoes resting on the enclosure surfaces. On closer inspection, mosquitoes were displaying excessive cleaning responses, in some instances frantic cleaning of the antenna.

After exposure to MozzyOff, these alterations in behaviour lasted for many hours. On exposure to the other botanical repellents, no such significant change in behaviour was observed.

MozzyOff was also 13% more effective at repelling mosquitoes over a distance than any other repellent tested.

In the field however, is where MozzyOff really comes into its own. Field trials conducted by Military personnel and UK Forestry Commission have found that MozzyOff is extremely effective even in the harshest conditions. Unlike some other insect repellents, MozzyOff wont harm synthetic materials like your expensive sunglasses, fishing rod or waterproof jacket.
